Nio Capital invests in electric truck and van startup Newrizon

Newrizon was founded in September 2020 by former NIO senior vice president Huang Chendong.

Nio Capital, a venture capital firm founded by William Li, the chief executive of EV maker Nio, announced an investment in Newrizon on Monday. Newrizon is a Shanghai-based startup founded by former Nio employees that makes automated electric trucks and vans. The cash injection, which amounts to “more than one hundred million RMB,” will enable Newrizon to advance the launch of new light truck and van models, accelerate the development of electric and autonomous technologies, and expand its domestic and international footprints. The company was founded in late 2020 by Huang Chendong, a former senior vice president of Nio, and shipped more than 1,000 units of its first electric light truck, the EC1, in 2022.
