Li Auto Unveils Li MEGA as First BEV Model, Aims to Dominate High-End EV Market in China Above $70,000

Li Auto Unveils New Li MEGA EV with 800 Kilometer Range and 15-Minute Charging Time

Li Auto, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in china, has unveiled the name of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model at its Family Tech Day event held on June 17th . The flagship BEV will be called Li MEGA and is scheduled for release by the end of 2023.

Li Auto is confident that the Li MEGA will become the top-selling passenger car priced at RMB 500,000 ($70,160) or higher in China, surpassing both traditional and electric models. This signifies Li Auto’s determination to challenge the notion that high-end pure electric vehicles cannot achieve significant sales. Currently, Li Auto offers extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), but the Li MEGA marks their entry into the BEV market.

By 2025, Li Auto plans to have a product lineup that includes one super flagship model, five EREVs, and five BEVs, catering to the needs of family users. The company has also developed its own 800 V high-voltage all-electric platform and introduced a 5C charging solution, allowing for fast charging with power of over 500 kW.

In addition to its technical advancements, Li Auto shared updates on its advanced driver assistance systems and in-car voice assistant, demonstrating its commitment to innovation. With the production of its 400,000th vehicle, Li Auto continues to make significant strides in the electric vehicle market, with record deliveries reaching 28,277 vehicles in May and cumulative deliveries surpassing 363,876.
